PonSuka Premiere Date and Broadcast Details

The PonSuka anime begins airing on April 6, 2026 at 23:30 JST on Japanese television. International fans can follow the series via Crunchyroll, which carries simulcast titles from the Spring 2026 season.

What Is PonSuka About?

PonSuka is a high school romantic comedy built around two characters who should not get along but gradually find themselves drawn together anyway. Tougo Sakuradaimon is a disciplinarian who monitors students at the school gate every morning, checking that everyone meets the dress code. Poem Kohinata is a high school girl who gets stopped at that same gate every single day for wearing her skirt too short.

Their dynamic shifts unexpectedly when both end up in the same remedial class and discover something surprising. Sakuradaimon, who comes across as serious and by the book, turns out to be completely hopeless when it comes to studying. The two polar opposites gradually grow closer as they get to know each other beyond their first impressions. Takuma Yokota’s original manga has been running in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine since March 2019, and the series has built a dedicated fanbase across 19 volumes with a 20th arriving in March 2026.

The Supporting Cast in Detail

The newly announced characters add some welcome depth to the world beyond the central pair.

Nadeshiko Yamato, voiced by Yuko Kaida, and Kaoru Kogori, voiced by Tetsu Inada, round out the supporting cast announced alongside the main trailer. Both voices bring considerable experience to the production, with Kaida recently recognised for her role in The Apothecary Diaries and Inada carrying the weight of one of My Hero Academia’s most iconic characters.

The wider support cast is equally well assembled. Jun Fukuyama brings his signature versatility to Seiichi Tsukishima, a librarian character described as charming on the surface but quietly scheming underneath. Yu Izubuchi, voiced by Hayato Dojima, is a former delinquent turned health committee member whose rough speech tends to intimidate everyone around him despite his genuine warmth. Motoko Akina, voiced by Yuina Ito, serves as the high-energy, impulsive friend of Poem-chan who tends to charge ahead before thinking. Rui Tasaki, voiced by Ayaka Fukuhara, balances Akina’s chaotic energy as the calmer, manga-club-attending friend who still gets swept along for the ride.

Why PonSuka Is Worth Watching This Spring?

Rom-com anime lives or dies on the chemistry of its central pair, and PonSuka sets that dynamic up with a lot of natural tension from the very first meeting. The idea of two characters who repeatedly clash through circumstance before discovering genuine compatibility is a formula that works precisely because it feels grounded. Sakuradaimon is not the intimidating authority figure Poem assumes him to be, and that gap between expectation and reality is where the humour and warmth of the series both live. With a strong cast, an experienced production team, and nearly seven years of source material behind it, PonSuka arrives in Spring 2026 as one of the season’s most well-prepared rom-com entries.
