Crimson Desert is Pearl Abyss’s open-world action-adventure set on the Pywel continent. The Legendary White Lion Necklace stands out as one of the best accessories for the neck slot, thanks to its high Attack ceiling, scaling Critical Rate, and unique passive Spirit regeneration. However, claiming it means tracking down a Legendary beast in a remote corner of the map and knowing exactly what to do once you get there.
Legendary White Lion Location
The Legendary White Lion spawns near the Turquoise Rock Pools, which sit in the far northern section of Crimson Desert, just south of Varnia (the northernmost city) and close to the east coast shoreline. On your map, zoom into the northern region and look for three half-circle grey icons along the eastern shoreline north of Trader’s Expanse. The pools are right by the water and beach area.

The lion itself does not spawn inside the water. It occupies a rocky cliff to the southwest of the pools, positioned slightly above and to the side of the water, with its pride of lionesses patrolling in a loose circle around it. The Legendary White Lion is noticeably larger than the regular lionesses and has a bright white and silver colouring that makes it immediately identifiable. All of them are always hostile, so there is no stealth approach needed if you want to engage.
Map navigation tip:
On the northern Crimson Desert map, follow the main road northeast from Trader’s Expanse. Stay east of the road as you pass Hernand and Demeniss. Once you approach the east coast and spot the grey half-circle rock formation markers near the shore, you are in the right area. The Turquoise Rock Pools and the lion’s cliff are just ahead.
Alternate spawn note:
At least one source mentions the White Lion appearing near a frozen lake at Snowgrass, though the Turquoise Rock Pools cliff is the consistent primary location reported across the majority of guides and player accounts.

Step-by-Step: How to Get the Necklace

- Unlock fast travel via Abyss points and reach Demeniss before attempting this route. Having decent weapons and healing meat prepared here is strongly recommended — the fight is a tough swarm encounter for under-geared players.
- Fast-travel to the nearest Abyss point and skydive toward the Turquoise Rock Pools to save travel time.
- Locate the Legendary White Lion on the cliff to the southwest of the pools. Fight through the lionesses surrounding it first.
- Defeat the Legendary White Lion using your preferred strategy (see the combat section below).
- Skin the Legendary White Lion after the fight. The necklace does not drop automatically — skinning is required.
- Take the necklace to any Blacksmith in Demeniss, Varnia, or Hernand to begin refining it.
Do not skip skinning. Defeating the Legendary White Lion without skinning it means you leave empty-handed. The necklace only appears when you skin the beast after the fight. The necklace itself has a distinctive giant lion tooth design in your inventory, though it adds no visible change to your character model.
How to Beat the Legendary White Lion
The fight is challenging because the entire pride attacks simultaneously. Without a reliable strategy, under-geared players will be quickly overwhelmed. Bring healing food or cooked meat from hunting and stock up at a Provisioner’s Shop before heading out.

Force Palm cliff method (fastest)
Use Force Palm on the Legendary White Lion two or three times to push it off the southwestern cliff. The fall damage kills it instantly, bypassing most of the fight. The basic version of Force Palm is enough for this. However, if you have unlocked Focused Force Palm — obtained by observing a glowing wall south of the Scholastone Institute — it makes the push even more reliable.
Knockback skills or explosive arrows
Any skill with a knockback effect or an explosive arrow achieves the same cliff-kill result. Use whichever fits your build if you do not have Force Palm.
Combat mount support
Bring a Legendary combat mount like the White Bear or Silver Fang for a fair direct fight. They draw aggro from the lionesses so you can focus solely on the Legendary beast.
Crouch and positioning
If you are not using the cliff method, crouching can help you reposition around the pride and avoid being swarmed from multiple angles simultaneously.
Defeating the Legendary White Lion also completes the “White Lion” challenge, which rewards bonus XP and challenge progress on top of the necklace drop.
White Lion Necklace Base Stats

| Stat | Base Value | Max Refinement (+4) |
| Attack | 2 | +5 |
| Critical Rate | Lv. 1 | Lv. 4 |
| Refinement Cap | 4 | Maxed at +4 |
| Spirit Regeneration | +0.1 per second | +0.1 per second (unchanged across all refinement levels) |
Accessory multiplier: Some player testing suggests accessories apply a double stat effect, which would make Critical Rate Lv. 4 at max refinement function as effectively Lv. 8. This has not been universally confirmed across all sources — cross-reference your in-game tooltip to verify on your own copy. Either way, the White Lion Necklace’s crit scaling at max refinement is consistently regarded as among the strongest available for mid-to-late builds.
The passive +0.1 Spirit per second does not scale with refinement level but remains active at all times. Spirit powers many of the strongest endgame skills in Crimson Desert, so having a constant source of regeneration without needing to manage it manually gives a real advantage in extended fights.
Note on Spirit value: Most sources confirm +0.1 per second at base. Some player testing and tooltips on maxed versions show +0.3 per second, which may reflect a display difference or a tooltip variation. Treat +0.1 as the safe confirmed baseline until you can verify it on your own copy.
Respawn and Farming
The Legendary White Lion respawns after a server reset or when you leave and re-enter the area, though this can take several in-game hours. Farming the lion more than once is worthwhile for two reasons: the pride drops Hides and Bones that feed directly into refinement materials, and duplicate White Lion Necklaces can be used as fodder in higher refinement steps instead of raw resources, which can significantly reduce material costs.
How to Refine the White Lion Necklace
After skinning the lion and collecting the necklace, visit any Blacksmith in a major city such as Demeniss, Varnia, or Hernand and select the Refinement option specifically. The necklace refines up to +4, and each level raises its base stats significantly.
Before committing to any refinement step, you can preview the exact material cost and resulting stats at the Blacksmith interface, which makes it easy to plan ahead. Costs scale per level and also depend on your Blacksmith progression.
Materials needed for refinement:
- Ores and Jewels — gathered by mining with a pickaxe. Used as the primary material for jewellery and metal accessories. Higher refinement levels (especially +3 and +4) require rarer ores such as Silver Ore, Gold Ore, Azurite, Garnet, and Diamonds. Basic ores and Fleece can also be purchased from Provisioner’s Shops to speed things up.
- Hides and Bones — obtained from hunting animals in the wild, including during White Lion farm runs themselves.
- Miscellaneous materials — including Cloth Pieces and Fleece, which come from camp expansion, looting enemies, or purchasing at a Provisioner’s Shop.
- Abyss Artifacts — may be required at higher refinement steps.
- Refinement Coins — available from quests and events, these can help offset material costs at any level.
- Duplicate White Lion Necklaces — some refinement steps accept a second copy of the necklace as fodder material instead of raw resources, which makes farming the lion more than once worthwhile.
Refinement is what elevates the White Lion Necklace from a solid early-mid piece into a genuine endgame accessory. At base stats it is already useful, however reaching max refinement is what makes it best-in-slot for crit-focused and Spirit-hungry builds.
How the White Lion Necklace Compares to Other Necklaces
The neck slot in Crimson Desert supports several necklaces. Here is a comparison of the confirmed options and how they stack up.
| Necklace | Attack | Crit Rate | Spirit Regen | Notable Effect | Tier |
| White Lion Necklace | 2 (up to +5) | Lv. 1 → Lv. 4 | +0.1/sec | Best refinement ceiling, constant Spirit | Legendary / Best-in-slot |
| Necklace of Lightning | High | High crit focus | None | Strong for pure damage builds | Mythical / Top tier |
| Eternal Darkness Necklace | High | High | None | Comparable to White Lion in some builds | Mythical / Top tier |
| Saint’s Necklace | Moderate | None | None | +5 Defence, strong survivability | Mid-tier / Tank option |
| Tarivian Necklace | Moderate | Varies | None | Quest/puzzle-based, grants a second wind / revive effect | Situational / Utility |
| Karanda’s Necklace | 2 | Lv. 1 | None | No Spirit regen, no comparable refinement ceiling | Mid-tier / Stepping stone |
| Tarnished Necklace | 1 | None | None | Basic early option | Early-game |
Note on Ogre’s Ring: Some players compare the Ogre’s Ring for its high Attack and Spirit values, but it occupies the ring slot rather than the neck slot and is not a direct alternative to the necklaces listed above.
Which should you use?
The White Lion Necklace remains the best-in-slot choice for crit-focused and Spirit-intensive builds because of its refinement ceiling and passive regeneration. The Necklace of Lightning and Eternal Darkness Necklace suit players who prioritise raw damage over Spirit. The Saint’s Necklace suits players who need survivability over offence, while the Tarivian Necklace is worth keeping for tough fights where the revive effect can save a run. Earlier necklaces from witches or introductory quests offer basic crit but fall behind once refinement becomes available.
