Crimson Desert gameplay showing a glowing Abyss Nexus for fast travel in the Pywel open world

Pearl Abyss dropped Crimson Desert Update 1.03.00 on April 11, 2026, and it is one of the most substantial patches the game has received since launch. From a completely overhauled fast travel system to brand-new skills for all three playable characters, this update addresses some of the most requested quality-of-life changes while also delivering improvements that players were not expecting. If you have been holding off on exploring Pywel’s open world, now is a great time to dive back in.

Crimson Desert Update 1.03.00 Platform Availability

The patch is now live across all major platforms. Here is the current rollout status:

PlatformStatus

Steam (Mac)Available now
PlayStationAvailable now
XboxAvailable now
Epic Games StoreAvailable now
Mac App StoreComing at a later date (in progress)

Mac App Store players will need to wait a little longer, but Pearl Abyss has confirmed the update is currently in progress for that platform.

The Biggest Changes in Update 1.03.00

Fast Travel Gets a Major Upgrade

Previously, fast travel in Crimson Desert came with a frustrating list of restrictions. Update 1.03.00 changes that significantly. Teleportation via the Abyss Nexus now works while mounted, falling, swimming, and climbing walls. This means you can fast travel at virtually any non-combat moment, which removes one of the more tedious friction points in open-world exploration.

On top of that, undiscovered Abyss Nexuses now glow, making them far easier to spot as you move through the world. Previously these were notoriously easy to miss unless you used Blinding Flash, so this is a welcome fix for completionists.

New Skills for All Three Characters

This is the highlight of the patch for many players. All three playable characters receive new abilities in Update 1.03.00.

Kliff gains a new ability called Focused Aerial Roll. The prerequisites are Focus Lv. 3, Flight Lv. 2, and Aerial Roll. You activate it by using Focus while in flight and then pressing the dodge key.

Damiane and Oongka receive the most significant overhaul. Both characters now have access to Axiom Force, Nature’s Snare, and their related abilities. Damiane’s Shield Toss and Oongka’s Scatter Shot have also been improved to deliver the same effect as Kliff’s Force Palm. The control inputs for Damiane’s Skystep and Oongka’s Vertical Flight have been adjusted as well.

The practical result of these changes is that Damiane and Oongka are now considerably more viable for open-world gameplay. While the main story still revolves around Kliff, you no longer feel at a major disadvantage when switching to the other characters for exploration.

Weapon Display Options

If the visual clutter of multiple weapons on your character’s back has been bothering you, this update adds a dedicated Weapon Display setting under Others > Language and Gameplay. You can now control exactly which weapons appear on your character outside of combat:

  • Melee Weapons: All or Selected Only
  • Ranged Weapons: Always or Only When Used

This is a purely cosmetic option but one that many players will appreciate, particularly those who prefer a cleaner visual presentation during cutscenes and exploration.

Abyss Puzzles and Exploration Improvements

Pearl Abyss made several targeted improvements to make Abyss content clearer and more approachable. Lanterns and the Blinding Flash ability now provide more hints, and the game makes it clearer when certain gimmicks are available for Force Palm interactions. The entrance path to the Spire of Soaring has also been improved, and terrain in certain Abyss locations has been adjusted for better navigation.

New Music

The patch adds one new loading screen music track, which replaces what had become a rather repetitive audio experience. Additionally, three new base combat music tracks were added across the continent of Pywel during Patch 1.01.00, covering most regions outside the Crimson Desert itself.

UI Fixes and Improvements

Update 1.03.00 brings a solid round of map and inventory UI improvements that make day-to-day navigation noticeably cleaner:

  • Treasure chests already obtained now display with distinct icons on the world map and minimap.
  • Visited and unvisited caves now appear with separate icons on the world map.
  • Restored and unrestored Abyss locations now display with different icons, making it easy to track your completion progress at a glance.
  • Item details can now be viewed directly from the storage section.
  • The Memory Fragments of the Visione list now shows only fragments you have already obtained, reducing clutter.
  • A new function lets you process all items at once when grouping or ungrouping items in your bag.
  • A bug where Attack and Critical Rate values for certain equipment like necklaces and cloaks displayed as doubled in the inventory has been fixed.
  • World map markers no longer disappear on the first reconnection after being set.

Graphics and Settings — Platform by Platform

Pearl Abyss rolled out a range of new graphical options across platforms with this patch:

PC Only:

  • Intel Arc GPU support added, with ongoing compatibility improvements planned.
  • Intel XeSS 3.0 upscaling option added under Settings > Video > Upscale Mode.
  • Intel XeSS Frame Generation option added under Settings > Video. Note: Intel Arc A-series GPUs may experience display issues when using either XeSS option.
  • AMD Radeon Anti-Lag 2 added under Settings > Video.
  • Displacement Scale and Detail Decorative Mesh options added under Settings > Graphics.
  • Fixed visual noise in screen distortion effects when using DLSS-RR.

PS5 Base and Xbox Series X:

  • Enhanced Raytracing option added under Settings > Video.

PS5 Pro:

  • PSSR Sharpness option added under Settings > Video.

All Platforms:

  • Improved indoor lighting quality.
  • Improved water surface reflections.
  • Fixed an issue where rain appeared excessively bright from certain camera angles.

New Accessibility and Gameplay Settings

Update 1.03.00 also expands the accessibility options available to all players. The following additions are now live under Others > Accessibility:

  • Minimum Font Size — takes effect after restarting the game.
  • Camera Visual Range
  • Camera Vertical Offset
  • Camera Horizontal Offset
  • Camera Auto-follow
  • Camera Lookahead

Additionally, a Fast Forward Speed option is now available under Others > Language and Gameplay. Dialogue fast-forward speed can be set up to 4x, and fast-forwarding now also works during standard dialogue scenes that previously did not support it.

Bug Fixes Worth Noting

Beyond the headline additions, the patch resolves a number of specific bugs:

  • Fixed a crash that occurred when using the Helm of Knowledge as Damiane or Oongka.
  • Fixed an issue where corn had no maximum purchase limit at certain vendors.
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘wanted’ status prevented certain requests from being completed.
  • Fixed NPC replacements in Pailune after specific quests, affecting Gunter, Harry, Bronton, and Lola.
  • Fixed a Chapter 9 issue where requests could not be completed after destroying totems in the Sanctum of Mortification.
  • Fixed abnormally fast character movement during certain ability chain combos.
  • Fixed Blinding Flash deactivating while moving on a mount.
  • Fixed the Nature’s Snare ability activating unintentionally on controller when tilting the right stick during Focus.

Known Issues Still Present

Pearl Abyss has flagged the following issues as still unresolved following this patch:

  • Intel Arc A-series GPUs may display the screen incorrectly with XeSS 3.0 or XeSS Frame Generation enabled.
  • Nearby Abyss Nexuses or stone lanterns occasionally fail to mark when using Blinding Flash. This can be temporarily resolved by restarting the game.
  • NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPUs show a white screen when FSR Upscaling and Frame Generation are both enabled.
  • Intel Arc A750 GPUs may experience crashes when entering Hernand city.
  • PS5 Pro players may see lower-than-expected resolution in Quality mode. Restarting the application resolves the issue.
  • Knowledge for two specific bosses cannot currently be obtained (listed in the official dropdown on the Crimson Desert website to avoid spoilers).
  • FSR4 upscaling causes rain disappearance or screen blur in rainy environments.
  • The ROG Xbox Ally X has a known launch issue on the latest driver. Pearl Abyss recommends rolling back to the previous driver version until Microsoft and AMD resolve the problem.

Crimson Desert has now sold 4 million copies since launch, and Pearl Abyss continues to deliver patches at a notably fast pace. Further updates with new pets, mounts, outfits, storage changes, and new difficulty options are already confirmed to be in development.
