Indie publisher Amplified Games Ltd and developer Posh Cat Studio are preparing to launch Little Problems: A Cozy Detective Game on Steam for PC this Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The debut title from the female-led Indonesian studio is set to bring a wholesome twist to the popular cozy games genre, offering lighthearted detective work in a warm, narrative-driven package.

While cozy games are often associated with farming, crafting, and collection-based mechanics, Little Problems distinguishes itself by centering on small-scale sleuthing. Players take on the role of Mary, a first-year university student who helps her classmates and community solve everyday mysteries. Rather than tracking down dangerous criminals, Mary’s investigations are rooted in relatable challenges: finding a missing earring, remembering where a study group is meeting, or figuring out who deserves a group discount at a concert.

The developers describe the experience as “detective work from a smaller and cozier point of view,” aiming to reduce stress while still satisfying fans of mystery-driven gameplay.

“We turned to cozy games and cute pictures to escape the blood and gore,” explained Melisa, Lead Developer and Founder at Posh Cat Studio. “Little Problems was born out of a love for wholesome, safe, and approachable content, but still with a passion for investigation and detection.”

Interestingly, the project did not begin as a cozy title. Posh Cat Studio originally set out to create a traditional investigative murder mystery with Lovecraftian influences. However, the team soon recognized that spending months immersed in dark crime and horror themes was taking a toll on their well-being. The pivot toward a lighter, heartwarming detective experience allowed them to combine their love of puzzles with a focus on mental health and positivity.

Gameplay in Little Problems relies on classic point-and-click mechanics, where players collect clues, assess suspects, and fill in notes to piece together each mystery. Visuals are presented in a colorful, illustrated style reminiscent of visual novels, contributing to the game’s approachable and cozy atmosphere.

According to Amplified Games, the title emphasizes enrichment over high-stakes storytelling. Instead of saving the world, players are encouraged to enjoy the process of making small but meaningful differences in their characters’ daily lives.

With its gentle detective theme and focus on everyday issues, Little Problems broadens the definition of cozy gaming. It provides a welcoming alternative for players seeking narrative-driven gameplay without the intensity of crime thrillers or the repetitive loops of farming sims.

Little Problems: A Cozy Detective Game will be available worldwide on Steam starting September 9, 2025, and is currently open for wishlisting.
