Many Roblox players have noticed growing discussion around classic faces and what happens to them next. The concern feels personal because classic faces sit at the heart of Roblox identity. Based on official Roblox staff updates, here is a clear and grounded explanation of what is actually happening.
Will Roblox Remove Classic Faces?
Roblox is not deleting classic faces outright, but it is removing them as standalone items. Roblox will convert all Classic Heads and Classic Faces into Dynamic Heads. This transition will finish in February 2026, after which the Classic Heads and Classic Faces categories will disappear from the Marketplace.
Your classic look does not vanish. It changes form.
Why Roblox Is Making This Change
Roblox updated its Marketplace policy for Avatar Heads. The policy now requires all heads to support expression through animation and defined cage regions. Classic heads and faces remain static and do not meet these requirements.
Roblox wants every avatar to support expressive movement while keeping creative freedom intact. Animation plays a central role in how Roblox defines self expression going forward. Because classic faces cannot animate, Roblox chose conversion rather than removal.
This shift creates one unified avatar system instead of maintaining two parallel ones.
What Happens to Your Classic Faces
Every Classic Head and Face combination will convert into a corresponding Dynamic Head. Roblox designed these replacements to match the original aesthetic closely.
You keep ownership of your items. Roblox replaces them automatically with dynamic equivalents that reflect the same visual identity.
Once the conversion finishes:
- Classic Heads and Classic Faces categories leave the Marketplace
- Converted Dynamic Heads appear in their place
- Your avatar continues to resemble its original style
How Roblox Addressed Player Concerns
Roblox paused earlier efforts after community feedback and focused on five specific areas.
Performance parity
Roblox tested Dynamic Heads across devices, platforms, and complex environments. These tests confirmed similar performance to classic heads in load time, memory use, and stability.
Head shape swapping
You can still swap head shapes on compatible Dynamic Heads. Roblox added a Head Shape selector that allows you to apply owned classic head shapes to supported dynamic heads.
Aesthetic parity
Roblox ensured each classic head and face has a dynamic version that matches its original look as closely as possible.
Improved idle animations
Earlier animations blinked too often and felt unnatural. Roblox refined these animations to feel subtle and closer to the original static appearance. A free static idle animation pack will also be available for players who prefer no motion.
Limited item support
Roblox will migrate all limited and rare head combinations. Limited availability schedules remain unchanged.
The One Important Exception
Some heads with unique geometry, such as Diamond Head, will remain paired with their original faces. These shapes cannot support face swapping without clipping or breaking geometry. You can still use them exactly as purchased, but you cannot mix them with other faces.

What This Means for You as a Player
You do not lose your classic identity. Roblox converts it into a system designed for future features while preserving visual familiarity.
You gain:
- Continued access to your classic look
- Improved animation control
- Compatibility with future avatar updates
You lose:
- The ability to buy classic faces as static items
